Petition asks for Congress to stop false allegations

While real allegations of domestic violence are made every day, it may surprise some people to know just how common false allegations are. These are sometimes made as a way to manipulate people, to get revenge for some perceived wrong, or to blackmail people into doing what others want. Those who have signed the petition warn that lives can be ruined this way, asking for Congress to step in and put a stop to it.

One man who signed the petition said that he was currently going through the divorce process with his wife, whom he described as mentally disturbed. He said she called the police and he was arrested at his own home, though he'd done nothing.

Another man apparently faced allegations from his wife after telling her that he wanted to split up. She threatened to file charges so that he would be jailed because of his decision to end the relationship.

One woman signed it on the behalf of her son. She claimed that her son's wife had been drinking while she was pregnant, and the son took steps to stop her. The woman says she planned to get back at him and used false allegations of abuse as revenge for his actions after the child was born.

One interesting thing about the petition is that some people who signed it noted that they thought they were alone in being falsely accused, but they found many other people with the same types of stories when signing.

If you're facing charges for domestic violence that are entirely fabricated, you must know how to defend yourself in the Florida court system.
